Testimonials
Here's what some of my key clients say about my work with them ...
Christine Flynn (Qld Department of Main Roads, Office of the Australian Public Service Commissioner)
David was the principal consultant supporting a substantial re-alignment of the Department's leadership culture to one with a measurably relational focus. He facilitated a wide range of face-to-face workshops with the Executive, senior managers, middle managers and supervisors, as well as team workshops and other innovative approaches to developing a desired culture. At every level, he challenged our leaders to learn how to effect strong, open relationships with staff, each other, and our stakeholders throughout Queensland. The impact of his work was significant, drawing international recognition through long term evaluation projects with the university sector. He encompassed leadership, relationships, culture, change, teamworking and the applications of story to the human side of work. He brings a collaborative working relationship to the engagement and, on request, actively develops the capabilities of Organisation Development staff in the organisation.
Tony Olthof (HR Director, Linfox)
David worked with us at Linfox to design and deliver four levels of leadership development - 1) An Advanced program for senior managers, each program for six months and group-project-based; 2) Middle Management residential program intensives; 3) a Graduate program, outdoors-based and 15 days in length; and 4) Executive Team retreats, constructed from both a team learning focus and real team issues. All these programs were tailor-made and complementary to each other, within a coherent framework, and supported by executive coaching. These developments had a strong and positive impact on both the individual participants and on the company's leadership culture and management networks.
Stuart Dickinson (CEO, UXC Oxygen)
David designed and conducted a series of intensive residential leadership development workshops, in which all of our people leaders (including Executives) took part. These created a set of very strong shared reference experiences, models, skills, language and views of leadership across the business. There was a high level of self-awareness created, and greatly increased connectivity and trust throughout the company. He also conducted several bespoke workshops for the Executive Team, designed specifically for the team at those particular times, to enhance teamwork and relationships, which strengthened the group's ability to address strategic issues at the same time.
Dave Jackson (Project Director, K2RQ - Leighton/CIMIC)
David worked extensively with us on the K2RQ rail quadruplication project over about 3 years, to build leadership, the human system, and open, clear communication across the alliance project and its partners. He designed and ran workshops for the leadership team, and a series of residentials for mixed groups which included all of our managers, professionals, superintendents and foremen, where these groups simultaneously learned together and built valuable connections. These baseline workshops were supplemented with short people skills programs, individual and team coaching, inter-group workshops, and programs to support mentorship and safety, the last using a story approach to modelling positive mindsets and behaviours. This relational approach helped significantly in us delivering a $650 million project on time and under budget and with a standout safety record.
Murray Outram (HR Director, BHP Research, Calvary Healthcare)
In BHP Research, David played a key part in transforming a highly technical and intellectual culture into one where researchers and team leaders became keenly and skillfully focussed on their clients' wishes and needs through attentive, productive relationships. His core relationship workshops were among the most impactful I've ever encountered. Later, in the very different environment of healthcare, we again collaborated to conduct six-month programs to develop both leadership and management capacity with experienced managers and professionals. Many of those participants have gone on to run hospitals and other complex healthcare operations.
John Kimpton (Vice-President HR, CEVA Logistics)
At Ceva Logistics I was Vice President Human Resources Australia/New Zealand and at the time we were undertaking significant change throughout the business when I consulted David Green to design and implement a suite of advanced leadership programs. These interventions were built around a unique structure of company-wide innovation projects, with an average length of 15 months. These highly challenging programs drove an intense and sustainable learning experience for participants in leadership, change management and team work, created by strong cross-company networks and linking senior managers to the Executive, as well as implementing important initiatives.
David also conducted complementary retreats for the Executive Leadership team, which built a shared language and thinking whilst strengthening the team dynamics. He was our preferred supplier of Senior Leadership development programs and senior team residential workshops.
